So far, I have been publishing articles about improving the conversion rate on your website and questioning about what is your business target market, which is your website #1 business goal and why?

Now is the time to do the same again from the point of view of choosing what and how to do it, what is the best digital marketing consultant or digital media agency to hire; and most importantly; what level of priority they should have within my organisation?

Less uncertainty, more involvement

Digital marketing consultants have their own ideas, suggestions and progress to share with you and contribute with the project development. Normally,  these stages should be presented to you, and most of your staff to receive comments and listen to your desire for change in the important milestones.

Professionals in the digital marketing field often want to listen to you and keep you on the map as the better you are aware of the situation of your business project, the less you would feel anxiety due to the uncertainty.

Do your homework

Take your time, discuss your ideas with your team first, hold a brainstorming and be precise about what you or your company need and want to be done.

An effective marketing brief definitely help to have a positive impact on both clients and consultants.

However, whilst a clearly written brief is essential, one of the keys to success of any good brief  is defining and articulating the right marketing issue you’re trying to get sorted.

Once you have achieved absolute clarity on this key aspect, you will be able to proceed to speak with your digital marketing advisor with confidence.

The better the briefing, FSD and brand guidelines is supplied to your digital marketing consultant, the sooner and more precise the job you want will be done; saving both of you time. At the end of the day, saving time is saving money!

Doing or Getting Done

Delegating your online project for your business to your digital marketing consultant is taking a result or action you’re responsible for and giving it him.

By delegating the entire responsibility on a hope that your agent will actually get it done, and get it done right, according to your expectations. In case it doesn’t the blame is on your agency, which was supposed to do the work in blindness.

Leverage, on the other hand is working with your digital marketing consultant to produce the sought result or conversion.

Your agency or digital marketing consultant may do most, or even all of the work, but you’re actively involved by clarifying the outcome needed, checking in from time to time and helping solve challenges that may come up along the way. You’re leveraging the media project, but you’re maintaining responsibility and ownership of the result you’re after.

Importance of meetings your digital marketing consultant

The basic prerequisite for success is that you understand why the digital marketing consultant or agency has taken the project forward just like this. It is impossible to justify the decisions made by e-mail.

In many higher-end digital marketing agencies, the prerequisite for a service model is that the work is presented and the client literally approves the work done before moving on to the next stage of the project.

In addition to large meetings, many e-mails are handled during projects, dealing with smaller issues.

Digital Marketing Schedule

One promising website project for a group of businesses last year was taken over by another local digital marketing consultant or agency, because we were unable to give the customer an unrealistic three-week “absolute deadline” schedule. Three months later, the client’s pages were still not updated. So nothing new in this area: doing things well takes time.

If both side-by-side people were strictly focused on a particular business project, then we might have been able to get us a track record within three weeks.

However, the reality is that there are other clients in the digital marketing agencies, and also the graphic designers, photographers, content producers and web developers will not sit down with your thumbs ready to concentrate all your resources right on your project.

Of course, an invertebrate homepage provider can benefit financially by claiming that the pages you request will be delivered to the network in three weeks, even if you know the request is completely unrealistic.

In fact, being totally honest, if something lasts about four days, I say that it takes a week for this job. It is more beneficial to surprise the customer positively by doing the job faster than a little late.

Prompt Responses

For instance, I have used schedules based on one important assumption: you take up to three business days to respond to our messages and arrange a project for about an hour.

If you stretch this framework more than once, you may need to reconsider project schedules. I understand that some of the bigger offices have contractual terms that dictate that after a certain delay and several reminders, the customer will be fined for a delay.

We don’t have any rough ones. If your response is delayed for more than a week, it will only result in a delay in the project. New projects started after your project are in our eyes with the same line.

This means that during the delay, the stages of newer projects started will be handled in their next phase before your project is continued, even if the work on the newer project has only started yesterday and lasts tens of hours.

In my opinion, it is not fair that the work of another client is interrupted when you decide to respond after three weeks of radio silence.

To be continued…

The work, clearly, does not end here. How to get the most out of your digital marketing consultant is a whole other blog post in its own right, but hopefully, by following these steps, you can set the level of priority you should give to the selected advisor, and start the journey towards digital success for your business.
